Sharing Stories: Ruth’s Tiny Footprints
When Ruth was born, the hospital gave us those classic little ink footprints. They were adorable, of course, but like so many new parents, I just tucked them away in a box under the bed. It’s a box I hardly ever open unless I’m searching for something, but every time I do, I can’t help but pause and look at those tiny prints. They’re a little moment in time, a sweet reminder of how small she once was.

One day, I decided I wanted to see those precious prints every day — not just when I happened to need something from that box. I took a photo of the paper with the ink footprints and used it to create a wooden engraving. I also added her newborn picture, and included the details of her birth: the day, her weight, and her height.

Even if the prints are a little messy or far apart, I can “fix” them when I engrave them onto the wood. The result is a perfect little tribute to the day she arrived — one that I can see all the time.
Now, I’ve done this for all my children. It’s become one of my favorite ways to preserve those first memories, and the kids love seeing their own tiny footprints too.

If you have those sweet ink prints tucked away in a box somewhere, I’d love to help you bring them out into the light. These engraved pieces make a beautiful gift for a first birthday, an anniversary, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or even just because.
We can create them in all different sizes and I work directly with you to make sure every detail is just right.
Because some memories shouldn’t stay hidden in a box — they should be celebrated every day.
